Imperial Oil uses the old Esso brand and logo. In the USA, the Esso brand could not be used in all states, so they came up with the meaningless Exxon brand. You can tell the states where now-Exxon was able to use the Esso brand name because the Exxon stations in those states use the Esso name on their Diesel fuel pumps. This prevents the Esso brand from falling idle in those states and being taken over by a competitor.
Suncor Energy, the owner of the Sunoco and Petro-Canada brands in Canada and some Phillips 66 and Shell stations in the USA, is the #1 Canadian oil and gas company. Imperial Oil, 69.6% owned by ExxonMobil, is #2.
