Right now it is 15% of a min wage earners salary at $7.50 40 hours a week is that math right?

Is it simply a round numbered price, or is there reasoning why the price should be $2 a gallon? Are you considering the cost of crude, operating expenses, profit to investors, etc.? Or are you simply picking a number out of the air? What's a fair price for a new car? $5,000 is a fair price, I guess, though I'm not sure if that should be the fair price for a Smart Car or Volkswagon, or a Cadillac or Silverado. I guess $5,000 is a fair price for a small car and $6,000 or $7,000 for a large one. Having said that, wouldn't it help if I gave my reasoning? If yes, then why not give reasoning for picking a "fair price" for gasoline?

Sell your car and walk everywhere! You no longer have the issue of the "greedy" big oil companys or politicians to complain about, however I bet you will find something else.

Supply and demand will largely dictate the price which I believe will be over $3.00. Most of us would like to see it much lower, that higher is the reality.

A fair price seems to have settled around the $2.50 mark that seems to be the balance, lower and driving and usage picks up, over we seem to do less driving and the usage goes down. However fair to one is not always fair to another.
Gas_Buddy Champion Author Maryland Posts:25,967 Points:3,033,090 Joined:Aug 2004	Message Posted: Sep 18, 2009 3:59:24 PM Ignore Gas_Buddy Report Abuse Since you're asking me what I think is a fair price, not knowing how much it costs to drill for, gather, refine, and distribute a gallon of gas, let alone consider research and exploration, operating costs for a gas station, and a fair profit for ownership, let alone for operating expenses for distributorships, etc., I'd say a fixed price of about $10 for a tank of gas, realizing that some people have larger tanks and would therefore get greater benefit. But, since that's not realistic, and since people here are simply picking a price out of the air, I'd say read my earlier post (below). Gas is a pretty good deal as is, and would be even if it went up a dollar or more a gallon (not that I'd like that). Especially when you consider what people pay when they buy a cup of coffee (Coffee Beanery, Starbucks, etc.) or bottled water, etc. without complaint.
